  • 1949: Founded in Solingen, Germany by Karl Leister
  • 1963: Opening of a subsidiary in Kägiswil/Obwalden, Switzerland
  • End of the 1970s: All activities solely in Obwalden, Switzerland
  • 1998: Laser systems and microsystems
  • 1999: Relocation to the new headquarters in Sarnen, Switzerland
  • End of the 1990s: Expansion of infrastructure for microsystems with a cleanroom in Kägiswil, Switzerland
  • 2004: Opening of production facilities in Shanghai, China
  • 2007: Leister acquires Infrared Gas Sensor Company IR Microsystems SA
  • 2008: Relocation to the new headquarters in Kaegiswil
